El Paso has got a lot going for it and we just cracked another top 10 “best of” list. This time, the weather and general cost of living were the primary factors in our status.

Islands.com recently ranked the best cities in the United States of America to retire in and while, as usual, Florida had a couple in the top 10,El Paso is right in there with ’em.

I don’t have a problem with Florida, (I spent 2 of the best weeks of my life in Pensacola once), but I think El Paso way tops Florida here. The “Sunshine State” has got nothin’ on the one and only Sun City.

Sure, Florida has beaches and lakes and stuff but they also have sharks, alligators and hurricanes. Not to mention maniacal cocaine dealers.

We have so much cool stuff to do here and nice, warm, weather to do it in with an average of around 300 sunny days per year. Winters are pretty mild and snow rarely shows itself around here. Although, you don’t have to go far to enjoy a true, cold, snowy winter.

We’re also consistently ranked as being one the safest cities in the USA and, honestly, where else can you wander, freely, in and out of 2 states and 2 countries?

What Makes El Paso Special?

Besides having affordable housing, the cost of living is low here, so residents can still enjoy the daily routines they love on a fixed income. Various parks and walking trails offer opportunities for exercise and recreation, where residents can enjoy a comfortable climate year-round. – islands.com
