CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The South Texas Botanical Gardens & Nature Center is getting into the Halloween spirit with a trio of spooky attractions starting this weekend.

First up, the “Haunted Trail Walks” return on Friday, Oct. 17, and again on Oct. 24, from 8 to 10 p.m. Guests can brave a haunted path filled with ghosts, witches, and creepy surprises, all guided by staff known for caring for snakes and tarantulas.

A hayride will bring visitors back for refreshments in the Reptile Room. Tickets cost $20 and must be purchased online at STXBOT.org. Proceeds benefit animal medical care. The experience is not recommended for children under 11.

Next, the “Hay-Maze” opens Saturday, Oct. 18, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Ocean Drive Garden Club has again partnered with the gardens to create the fifth and final “Hay-mazing Adventure,” made with 150 bales of hay and decorated for Halloween. The maze, located near the yellow Tree House in the Children’s Play Area, will later transform into a Christmas-themed display by Thanksgiving.

Finally, on Halloween day, Oct. 31, children ages 3 to 12 dressed in costume can visit the “BOO-tanical Gardens” for half-price admission, just $3, with at least one accompanying adult.
