On Tuesday, Texas A&M (11-7, 7-1 SEC) returned to practice just four days before the Aggies take on Miami (FL) (10-2) in the first round of the College Football Playoff, and after missing the last six games of the regular season, star running back Le’Veon Moss was back on the field, looking healthy and ready to make his long awaited return on Saturday afternoon.
After practice, offensive coordinator Collin Klein and defensive coordinator Jay Bateman, who will both depart for their new roles after the CFP, spoke to the media for what could be the final time as members of the coaching staff. With Klein becoming Kansas State’s new head coach, while Bateman will take a lateral position at Kentucky and call defensive plays for the Wildcats, the focus is on the Aggies until the 2025 season officially comes to an end.
On Monday, head coach Mike Elko stated that he was in “wait-and-see mode” regarding Le’Veon Moss’s return to the roster. Still, thanks to the open media portion during Tuesday’s practice, several reporters captured the senior back taking part in drills at full speed, looking 100% healthy in nearly two months.
Klein, who is excited to have his star player potentially back in the lineup, let slip that Moss is set to return during the press conference, offering a glimpse of how he and the coaching staff plan to deploy him against the Hurricanes‘ defensive front.
“It’s always good to have a sledgehammer in the bag.”
“Obviously, really excited about him. Happy for him to be able to finish the season and get back there on the field. Want him to finish strong, and he’s a difference-maker when he has the ball in his hands.”

If this isn’t a confirmation that Moss will be back in the lineup, I don’t know what is. While Mike Elko likely wanted to keep this from leaking out, video footage, combined with Klein’s enthusiasm, is a great sign ahead of Saturday, as the Aggie offense needs Moss’s footwork, vision, and second-level burst to keep Miami’s defense honest.
“I love Lev. All of those guys and him, how he has attacked his rehab and the process is just like he always does, head-first.”
“To see him move around again and feel comfortable, I’m really excited for him to be able to finish the way he wants to.”
Texas A&M will host Miami on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with coverage on ABC and ESPN.
