Dallas Mavericks’ head coach Jason Kidd said that Brandon Williams and Caleb Martin practiced on Friday, while center Daniel Gafford did individual work.

Williams, recovering from a hamstring strain, played only two preseason minutes, while Martin and Gafford didn’t play at all.

Later Friday, the Mavericks reduced their training camp roster from 22 by waiving guard/forward Dalano Banton, forward Jeremiah Robinson-Earl and guard Dennis Smith Jr.

Smith was selected by the Mavericks out of North Carolina State with the 9th overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft. He earned All-Rookie honors in 2017-2018, but played just a season and a half with the Mavs before he was dealt to the Knicks as part of the midseason trade that brought Kristaps Porzingis to Dallas.

The Mavericks own the G-League rights of Banton and Robinson-Earl, and are working to secure the G-League rights to fan-favorite Smith, whom the franchise selected with the No. 9 pick of the 2017 draft.
