The matchup between Texas A&M and Miami in the first round of the CFP is shaping up to be a back-and-forth contest where either team could emerge victorious. Both squads possess explosive playmaking ability at the wide receiver position, and the Aggie secondary is prepared for that challenge.

At this level of football, half the battle is confidence and maintaining a short memory. One of the most demanding positions on the defensive side of the ball is cornerback. With the way offenses have evolved over the last decade, even elite cornerbacks are bound to surrender plays. The key lies in how you recover from those moments, and with a talent like Miami wide receiver Malachi Toney coming to Kyle Field, the Aggies will need to be at their absolute best.

There is no shortage of confidence within the Texas A&M secondary. While they respect the talent the Hurricanes bring to the field, they are ready to rise to the occasion.

“He’s (Malachi Toney) a great young receiver. He has special talents. We got guys on our defense we feel can matchup with him pretty well. If we go out there, execute at a high level and do what we need to do, we feel we’ll be just fine.” – Will Lee III

“They have a really talented receiver corp. It will be a challenge for us, but we’ve played some good receiver corps this year. We’ll go out and play our game.” – Dezz Ricks

College football fans across the country will be tuned in to watch what is arguably the most compelling matchup of the first round, and the Aggie secondary will be tested against one of the best passing attacks they’ve encountered this year.
