LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – More than 300 Angel Tree families received gifts to put under their Christmas trees this year, continuing the Lubbock Salvation Army’s 46-year tradition.
Major Jamie Clay said the Lubbock community adopted every child from this year’s Angel Tree.
“If we didn’t have an Angel Tree program for those families, many of those kids would wake up Christmas morning not feeling loved or remembered. But Because of the City of Lubbock, they’re remembering those kids and they’ll be thrilled Christmas morning,” Major Clay said.
She says more and more families need assistance each year and the Salvation Army will continue to be a safety net for them.
In addition to the Angel Tree program, the Salvation Army is still collecting funds for those in need through its Red Kettle Campaign.
