After winning each of its first three district games by double digits, the Plano East girls basketball team faced its biggest test Friday night.
McKinney Boyd, ranked No. 20 in last week’s Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Class 6A state poll, entered the game with a 9-1 record.
Plano East, a state semifinalist last season, was up for the challenge. Led by 29 points from sophomore 5-star recruit Arianna Robinson, the Lady Panthers took a 40-29 halftime lead and then withstood a McKinney Boyd second-half surge to earn a 67-64 home win.
Senior Nariah Witherspoon added 13 points, followed by 10 from senior Madeline Bankhead.
