CORPUS CHRISTI – The Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority has been awarded $46.3 million in federal funding to construct a new climate-controlled transit maintenance facility.

The new building will replace the authority’s existing 50-year-old facility and support maintenance of the transit fleet during extreme weather conditions.

The facility will include 21 maintenance bays, dedicated areas for parts, receiving, electronics work and facility operations, climate-controlled work environments, and training space to support safe and efficient operations.

The facility is expected to open within two years.
