EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Some El Paso City Representatives are concerned over a video being played at the El Paso Airport, where Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem blames democrats for the government shutdown.

This comes after several airports around the country, like those in Los Angeles and Portland, have refused to air the video, citing possible violations of the Hatch Act or state and internal policies.

City Rep. Josh Acevedo took to social media to voice his concerns on Wednesday. Soon, City Reps Deanna Maldonado-Rocha and Alejandra Chaves joined Acevedo, releasing a joint statement.

“We have received many calls with concerns from our constituents,” Acevedo said. “Our chief concern is that by displaying this video, TSA is in violation of the Hatch Act.”

Furthermore, Acevedo said that despite the fact that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) leases the area where the video is shown and made the decision to air it, the city’s attorney is reviewing the lease with TSA to determine if the video display is permissible.

The video, which blames Democrats for the government shutdown, began airing at TSA checkpoints last week under the Trump administration.

Airports are already experiencing the effects of the shutdown, as Democrats and Republicans remain deadlocked over healthcare subsidies.
