No. 5 Oregon opened as a 1½-point over No. 4 Texas Tech for their January 1 College Football Playoff quarterfinal in the Orange Bowl.

The Ducks head into the New Year’s Day game off a 51-34 win over James Madison in a CFP first-round game Saturday night at Autzen Stadium.

The CFP quarterfinal, which will be played at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Springs, Fla., kicks off at 9 a.m. PT.

The opening over/under is 53½ points.

Oregon (12-1) returns to the quarterfinals for a second consecutive year. The Ducks lost to Ohio State 41-21 in last year’s quarters at the Rose Bowl.

Texas Tech (12-1) was one of first team to earn a first-round as one of the top four seeds. The Red Raiders blasted Brigham Young in the Big 12 Championship game on December 6.

Oregon last played Texas Tech in 2023. The Ducks beat the Red Raiders 38-30 in Lubbock, Tex.

The point spreads for the other quarterfinals are Ohio State by 9½ over Miami (Cotton Bowl), Indiana by 7 ½ over Alabama (Rose Bowl) and Georgia by 6½ over Mississippi (Sugar Bowl).
