Kentucky saw its magical 2025 season come to an end on Sunday afternoon in a straight-set loss to Texas A&M in the National Championship. The Cats, riding a 27 match winning streak, jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the first set, but the Aggies took control from there. They took their first lead at 25-24 in the first set and won 26-24. Texas A&M dominated the second set 25-15. They completed the sweep with a 25-20 win in the third set. Texas A&M trailed UofL 2-0 in a regional semifinal before pulling off the reverse 3-2 sweep. Then they beat No. 1 Nebraska on the Cornhuskers home court. It was the first and only loss of the season for head coach Dani Busboom Kelly and the Cornhuskers. In the Final Four for the first time, they swept another No. 1 seed Pitt on Thursday night. The loss was the first for Kentucky since falling to Pitt on September 10. The Cats finish the season 30-3. It’s the second straight season that a team from the Bluegrass state has lost in the title match. UofL fell to Penn State in the KFC Yum! Center in 2024.
