Overview:

The Dallas Housing Coalition Annual Housing Summit concluded with a reception that included the presentation of the Raul Reyes Housing Advocacy Award. The award was presented by Dahlia Reyes, daughter of the late Raul Reyes Jr., and was given to South Fair CDC, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing sustainable, affordable housing for low and moderate-income families in the South Dallas-Fair Park area. The organization’s Executive Director, Annie Evans, and Homeownership & Community Engagement Manager, MaryAnn Cuellar, accepted the award on behalf of South Fair CDC.

On November 21, 2025, wrapping up a jam-packed day of learning and strategizing, attendees of the Dallas Housing Coalition Annual Housing Summit gathered for a closing reception hosted by Executive Director Bryan Tony.

Dahlia Reyes, eldest daughter of the late Raul Reyes Jr., attended to present the Raul Reyes Housing Advocacy award, her second year in a row presenting. Raul Reyes Jr. was an advocate for both housing and environmental justice in West Dallas and a founding DHC Steering Committee Member. Though Reyes passed away in February of 2024, the award named in his honor recognizes him as an outstanding individual, volunteer, elected official, or organization in housing advocacy.

Raul Reyes III and the Reyes family selected South Fair CDC as the 2025 winners of the Raul Reyes Housing Advocacy Award. Founded in 1991 by Linda (Walker) Bender, South Fair CDC is dedicated to the revitalization of the Jeffries-Meyers neighborhood.

The South Fair CDC mission is to provide sustainable, affordable housing for low and moderate-income families in the South Dallas-Fair Park area through multifamily, single-family, economic development, and through the connectivity of social services. Their key strategy is to leverage both private and public resources to launch and sustain redevelopment efforts in areas with extensive blight and deterioration. For almost thirty years, South Fair CDC has served thousands of clients within South Dallas, and the greater DFW Metroplex.

The award was accepted by South Fair CDC’s Executive Director Annie Evans and Homeownership & Community Engagement Manager MaryAnn Cuellar.
