A 40-year-old Tarrant County jail inmate died Sunday after being found unresponsive in her cell, according to a statement Monday from the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials say the woman received life-saving care from the medical staff at John Peter Smith Correctional Health after she was found unresponsive on Dec. 21.

She was transported to JPS Hospital for additional care, where she died later that day, the statement said.

The woman was initially arrested by the Arlington Police Department on robbery charges and transported to the Tarrant County jail, where she has been housed since Aug. 3, 2025.
