Public access will be restricted to the street in North Dallas where a viral mansion is located after the city of Dallas approved a special event permit.

Preston Hollow Citizens For A Safer Community, a neighborhood group, obtained a special event permit that allows the group to restrict vehicle and pedestrian traffic on weekend evenings in December due to large crowds viewing the holiday display at 6215 Deloache Ave.

The terms of the permit required the neighborhood group to hire four off-duty officers to control access, according to a Facebook post from council member Gay Donnell Willis, who represents the Preston Hollow neighborhood.

The permit limits access to Deloache Avenue between Preston Road and Edgemere in North Dallas to residents and invited guests. Public access is restricted from 6 to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, and until 11:30 p.m. on Christmas Day.

Only residents of the 6200 block of Deloache and those on their guest list will be admitted.

The Dallas Code Compliance Department has launched a survey to know whether residents have concerns about holiday light displays, noise and gatherings. And if changes should be made to the city code.

The survey is available in English and Spanish online.

In the Preston Hollow neighborhood, some residents have complained to the city about the standstill traffic caused by sightseeing crowds. Police officers enlisted to manage the surge in visitors for about one week last December cost Dallas taxpayers roughly $25,000.

The city’s code compliance department also issued notices to the homeowner for light, noise and visibility violations, which have been resolved, The Dallas Morning News reported.
