Hundreds of friends and loved ones of two Collin County men killed in a cycling accident last weekend hit the streets of Frisco on Wednesday morning to honor them.<\/p>\n
One of those men killed while cycling, Scott Mages, and his wife hosted the Santa Run in Frisco for years.<\/p>\n
Typically, a little over 30 runners participate, but on Wednesday, close to 300 runners came out to remember Mages and Andre Kocher.<\/p>\n
The two were on a ride with the Frisco Triathlon Club Saturday morning in Pilot Point when they were hit and killed by a driver. Both Mages and Kocher were taken to the hospital; their friends say the pair fought for their lives but eventually passed away.<\/p>\n
Police say the driver of the car is cooperating with their investigation. <\/p>\n
NBC 5 spoke with Mages’ brother, who says he could feel his brother here in spirit, and putting one foot in front of the other is exactly what he would\u2019ve wanted to see.<\/p>\n
“He was a supporter and cheerleader. He\u2019d be like you can do that. He believed in everybody to be able to do whatever they wanted to do, challenge themselves or, you know, didn’t matter if it was a 5K or whatever, he just loved celebrating other people’s achievements,” Paul Mages said. <\/p>\n
The Frisco Triathlon Club is raising money in honor of their friends for the League of American Bicyclists. The money will go toward improving bicycling safety, education and advocacy.<\/p>\n
Friends say Andre was a ringleader and was always looking out for others on his rides. <\/p>\n
