HOUSTON \u2013 Houston police are investigating a shooting involving officers that left a <\/a>man dead early Friday morning.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred just before 2 a.m. at the Cityscape Apartments near Highway 288<\/a> and Almeda Genoa<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Authorities say officers came to the scene around 1:41 a.m. after a woman reported hearing a crash and seeing a man pointing a gun at her outside her apartment. <\/p>\n

She went back inside and called for help.<\/p>\n

When officers arrived, they found the man inside a Chevy Suburban and issued verbal commands.<\/p>\n

At some point, three officers fired their weapons, hitting the man who was still inside the vehicle. <\/p>\n

Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

Multiple weapons were found inside the SUV, but police have not confirmed whether the suspect fired at officers or what exactly led to the shooting.<\/p>\n

Assistant Chief Patricia Cantu described the situation as \u201ca very sad scene\u2026 when somebody dies.\u201d<\/p>\n

Police have identified the man only as a man in his 50s. The investigation remains active.<\/p>\n

Authorities have released surveillance footage from a nearby business showing the moments before the shooting, cautioning the public about the graphic content.<\/p>\n
