Neither was hit by gunfire, police said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">When authorities arrived, they found Garcia standing in the middle of the street. Garcia shot at officers, but was struck at least once by an officer, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/BROWNSVILLEPOLICEDEPARTMENT\/posts\/pfbid0UQ9fHGZfaLGmaw4MpnBzdqpDKvniowDB75NVdEMXzUcTrKERAzKRrC2zxX4cYCG4l?rdid=EH4M9e4eL0JILFvp#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Facebook post<\/a> from the department said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Garcia\u2019s injuries were not life-threatening. He was later taken into custody. In total, Garcia is facing the following charges:<\/p>\n<p>Seven counts of aggravated assault against a peace officer<\/p>\n<p>Two counts of aggravated assault family violence<\/p>\n<p>Two counts of unlawful restraint<\/p>\n<p>One count of discharging a firearm in municipality<\/p>\n<p>One count of criminal mischief<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.krgv.com\/news\/police-brownsville-isd-employee-facing-charges-following-officer-involved-shooting\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">statement to KRGV<\/a>, a Brownsville ISD spokesperson identified Garcia as an employee of Rivera Early College High School.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cThe Brownsville Independent School District can confirm that an employee from Rivera Early College High School was involved in an officer-involved shooting this morning,\u201d the district said in a statement. \u201cIn accordance with district policies, we cannot comment further as this is a personnel matter. The situation is currently under investigation by the appropriate authorities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Brownsville police said the Texas Rangers will be leading the investigation into the shooting.
