Shell\u2019s mother even left town to spend the holidays with relatives in Atlanta.<\/p>\n<p>KPRC 2&#8217;s Joy Addison speaks with local resident Talia Shell over the feral cat problem in her neighborhood. (KPRC)<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cWe weren\u2019t able to decorate, have people over&#8230; Same thing for Thanksgiving,\u201d Shell said. \u201cShe said, \u2018I don\u2019t want anybody to not come to my house because of something that I can\u2019t control.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Property and Health Concerns<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The cats have created various problems for residents, including property damage and sanitation issues. Shell reports the animals use her landscaping mulch as a litter box and create disturbances with their mating behavior.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cIt\u2019s just constant mating going on that you can hear at night,\u201d Shell said.<\/p>\n<p>Looking for a Resolution<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Despite reaching out to multiple authorities, the family has struggled to find a solution. The homeowners association (HOA) directed Shell to contact animal control, while Harris County Pets suggested trapping the cats for pickup.<\/p>\n<p>Feral cats have taken over an Atascocita neighborhood. (KPRC)<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Shell attempted to follow the guidance but encountered obstacles. \u201cThey never came and got them and they were in the cage for about a week,\u201d she said. \u201cSo that was inhumane of me, you know, to leave the animals like that.
