{"id":10242,"date":"2025-10-18T21:39:07","date_gmt":"2025-10-18T21:39:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/10242\/"},"modified":"2025-10-18T21:39:07","modified_gmt":"2025-10-18T21:39:07","slug":"catholic-charities-resale-center-opens-hoping-to-help-community-find-great-deals-at-a-great-price-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/10242\/","title":{"rendered":"Catholic Charities Resale Center opens, hoping to help community find great deals at a great price"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | text-start article-text\">LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) &#8211; Lubbock residents can now shop at the <a href=\"https:\/\/cclubbock.org\/programs\/the-resale-center\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/cclubbock.org\/programs\/the-resale-center\/\">Catholic Charities Resale Center<\/a>, which has reopened with new apparel and lower prices.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The thrift store near 34th Street and Avenue N aims to provide assistance to community members in need, according to store manager Olivia Rojas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe\u2019ve all been there. I\u2019ve been there, that\u2019s what I tell everybody,\u201d Rojas said. \u201cIt\u2019s sometimes hard to ask for help but that\u2019s what we\u2019re here for, we\u2019re here to help our community, to help our brother and sister. We\u2019re all God\u2019s children, so there\u2019s nothing wrong asking for help, we\u2019ve all been there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Store features donated merchandise<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">All merchandise in the store comes from donations. Cynthia Quintanilla, executive director for Catholic Charities said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">She says the store offers a little bit of something for everyone.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cLots of great finds, whether that\u2019s household goods or clothing or shoes, we\u2019ve got some brand new boots sitting on the shelf, so lots of good things that one might consider not so useful and others may find it as a treasure,\u201d Quintanilla said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | text-start article-text\">Revenue from store purchases supports the non-profit\u2019s community programs. The organization uses proceeds to fund its <a href=\"https:\/\/cclubbock.org\/programs\/family-and-youth-success-fays\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/cclubbock.org\/programs\/family-and-youth-success-fays\/\">Family and Youth Success Program<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cclubbock.org\/programs\/kinship-navigation-program\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/cclubbock.org\/programs\/kinship-navigation-program\/\">Kinship Navigator Program<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cclubbock.org\/programs\/direct-client-assistance-program\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/cclubbock.org\/programs\/direct-client-assistance-program\/\">Direct Client Assistance Program<\/a>, and more.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cEvery purchase that is able to happen actually goes into each one of the programs we have here at Catholic Charities,\u201d Quintanilla said. \u201cAll of the programs benefit people here in the community, so all of it stays local.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Rojas said she has experienced difficult times herself and finds fulfillment in helping others who face similar challenges.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI get to help people, sometimes&#8230;stuff happens and you need that little help,\u201d Rojas said. \u201cSomething as little as a jacket or a pair of shoes, a pair of pants, something like that, and that\u2019s what we\u2019re here for, is to help our community and that\u2019s my favorite part about this,\u201d Rojas said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The store accepts donations on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Community members can visit the store at 34th Street and Avenue N for shopping or to make donations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2025 KCBD.
