\t\t\t\t\t\t\tNorthwest ISD\u2019s Education Foundation<\/a>, or NEF, awarded grants to several teachers across the district.<\/p>\n

The details<\/p>\n

NEF awarded 33 teaching grants totaling $90,918, according to a district news release<\/a>. The funds for the grants will go toward a number of projects, including in literacy, STEM and special education, according to the district.<\/p>\n

Some projects to be funded include titles such as:<\/p>\n

“Algae Beads: Testing Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration””Life Skills Reading Center: Building Literacy Through Accessible and Engaging Resources””From Pencils to Published: 3rd grade authors in action””If You Give a Student a Decodable””Literacy for All””Learning to Use an Air Fryer: A Hands-On Cooking Project”\u201cWe can\u2019t fund projects like this ourselves, so I figured it couldn\u2019t hurt to apply,\u201d special education teacher Jennifer O\u2019 Donnell, a grant recipient, said in the news release.<\/p>\n

O\u2019Donnell will use the awarded grant to do a gardening project with students to develop fine motor skills, according to the release.<\/p>\n

NEF has awarded more than $1.9 million in grants to teachers to date, according to the release.
