During the encounter, police were told the man reached into the vehicle and took a firearm from the guard\u2019s car.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">According to police, the man then attempted to flee the scene in a dark-colored Dodge Charger. As the vehicle pulled away, the security guard exited his sedan and fired multiple shots.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The gunfire caused the Charger to lose control and crash head-on into a pickup truck parked near the gas pumps, police <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox4news.com\/news\/west-dallas-security-guard-questioned-after-fatal-parking-lot-shooting.amp\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:said;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">First responders transported the man to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Crime scene investigators were seen throughout the morning collecting evidence near the front of the store and across the parking lot. Several shell casings were recovered at the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage from the store and interviewing witnesses. The security guard was detained at the scene and questioned by homicide investigators.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">No charges have been filed as of Sunday afternoon, and the investigation remains ongoing.
