Supporters say the message is about unity and peaceful resistance, while opponents argue the demonstrations are politically driven.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou will not silence us. You will not stop us; we will be heard,\u201d said Josi Davies, who attended the protest in Bastrop.<\/p>\n<p>Participants there marched from the county courthouse to the Kerr Community Center, holding signs and chanting as they went. The crowd included people of all ages and backgrounds, many carrying signs and chanting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s really exhilarating and satisfying to see that all these people came here to fight for their beliefs,\u201d said Clara Audubon, an Austin demonstrator.<\/p>\n<p>Some congressional Republicans have described the demonstrations as \u201chate America\u201d protests. Organizers reject that label, emphasizing that the movement\u2019s core principle is nonviolence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey kept pushing that and pushing it \u2014 nonviolence, nonviolence, nonviolence.
