Guevara said Razzoo\u2019s is neighborhood restaurant for cities like Cedar Hill, Mesquite and Arlington. He doesn\u2019t want to see it compete with a brand like Chili\u2019s. <\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s not why the core Razzoo\u2019s guest came,\u201d he said. \u201cCustomers came because it\u2019s fun, because of the \u2018swamp\u2019 thing and to get some alligator tail.\u201d <\/p>\n
His intention is keep the \u201cfun\u201d at Razzoo\u2019s, but streamline operations by reassessing prices and portion sizes.<\/p>\n
M Crowd was interested in Razzoo\u2019s because it\u2019s a \u201clegendary brand in Dallas restaurants,\u201d said Ray Washburne, one of the founders of M Crowd. <\/p>\n
Both Mi Cocina and Razzoo\u2019s were established in 1991, and both are D-FW born. <\/p>\n
With the sale, Razzoo\u2019s will move from Addison to M Crowd\u2019s Carrollton headquarters.<\/p>\n
What\u2019s next for Razzoo\u2019s restaurants<\/p>\n
M Crowd now owns 11 Razzoo\u2019s Cajun restaurants in Texas and North Carolina. <\/p>\n
The company is closing nine Razzoo\u2019s in Burleson, College Station, Far North Dallas (near Richardson), Garland, Irving, Lewisville, Lubbock, Spring and Tyler. <\/p>\n
The Razzoo\u2019s that will remain are \u201clegacy restaurants\u201d in their communities, Washburne said. <\/p>\n
Razzoo\u2019s restaurants staying open include one in Concord, N.C., three in Fort Worth, and those in Arlington, Cedar Hill, Harker Heights, McKinney, Mesquite, Round Rock and Stafford.<\/p>\n
Of the estimated 1,000 employees at Razzoo\u2019s, about 650 will remain, Guevara said. Managers at closed Razzoo\u2019s restaurants will be eligible for open positions at Mi Cocina restaurants, he said.<\/p>\n
