After public comment and three hours of discussion, the council decided to move forward in its negotiations with the Spurs on funding a new downtown arena despite Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones and several others asking to slow the process down.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s about demonstrating strength, power and control through cruelty.\u201d<\/p>\n \u2014 State Rep. Diego Bernal (D-San Antonio) on Gov. Greg Abbott vetoing $60 million in federal funding Texas families were on track to receive<\/a> to feed school-aged children while they\u2019re home over the summer.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is a relationship we will continue to build on. Henry has been doing this for a very long time. He\u2019s kind of like one of those Corollas that just won\u2019t die.\u201d <\/p>\n \u2014 Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones joking about Henry Cisneros\u2019 relationship building with Japan<\/a> as he received the Order of the Rising Sun Award from the Emperor of Japan.<\/p>\n \u201cWith regard to us being in office for another six months, I\u2019ll just say this, if council is going to continue to be the way that it has been for the past few months, I am not interested in that.\u201d<\/p>\n \u2014 Councilman Jalen McKee-Rodriguez (D2) on the council\u2019s response<\/a> to the idea of moving city elections to November. Council members ended up approving the idea with a 6-5 vote<\/a>, extending their terms by six months.<\/p>\n \u201cLeche de Tigre\u00a0<\/a>downtown is always poppin\u2019. That\u2019s my kid\u2019s favorite restaurant. There\u2019s not a day that goes by that my son\u2019s not like, \u201cCan we go to Leche?\u201d That\u2019s probably the hottest, trendiest restaurant right now \u2014 Leche de Tigre.\u201d <\/p>\n \u2014 San Antonio chef Jason Dady in June when asked to name a trendy, new restaurant<\/a> in town that he likes.<\/p>\n \u201cI think probably the best chef the city has ever had \u2014 and the one who has been the most ignored \u2014 is Andrew Weissman (a four-time James Beard finalist). Do you remember eating at Le Reve? \u2026 I think Le Reve is the best restaurant San Antonio has ever had and one of the best in the state. Can I think of a better meal I\u2019ve had at other restaurants in Texas? No. Not really.\u201d <\/p>\n \u2014 Retired Texas Monthly food critic Patricia Sharpe<\/a> when asked which San Antonio chef had surprised her.<\/p>\n \u201cThis museum has always had the plan to discuss the battle in the context of time, from the early Native Americans, all the way through how it affects pop culture today. Those plans have not changed.\u201d <\/p>\n \u2014 Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham told reporters<\/a> she didn\u2019t foresee revisiting the way the Alamo is represented in its ongoing redevelopment, despite the ousting of former Alamo Trust CEO Kate Rogers<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI felt compelled to fight that, because that\u2019s a dangerous precedent. Somebody took the trouble to find my dissertation. I think it puts a lot of people at risk.\u201d<\/p>\n \u2014 Kate Rogers, the former CEO of the Alamo Trust, Inc., on her lawsuit<\/a> against Lt.
