She is accused of breaking into another person\u2019s vehicle with intent to commit theft.<\/p>\n<p>Wyatt was released from jail Sunday on bond and is scheduled to appear in court Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Sign up for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.houstonpublicmedia.org\/hellohouston\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Hello, Houston!<\/a> daily newsletter to get local reports like this delivered directly to your inbox.<\/p>\n<p>Wyatt, a Democrat who was elected to the <a href=\"https:\/\/treasurer.harriscountytx.gov\/About\/Dr-Carla-L-Wyatt-County-Treasurer\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">county treasurer office<\/a> in November 2022, did not immediately respond to a voicemail and email seeking comment Tuesday. A woman who answered the phone at her office hung up after a reporter identified himself and stated the reason for the call.<\/p>\n<p>A defense attorney who previously represented Wyatt in a DWI case said he had not spoken to Wyatt or been hired by her in relation to the burglary charge.<\/p>\n<p>In December 2023, near the end of her first year in office, Wyatt was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after allegedly having a blood-alcohol concentration of at least .15% \u2014 nearly twice the legal level in Texas. The case record includes two bond violation reports: one in January 2024 for failing to obtain an ignition interlock device for her vehicle that tests for blood alcohol content, and another in March 2024 for a blood alcohol content level that was above the legal limit.<\/p>\n<p>The DWI charge was dismissed in August 2025 after Wyatt completed a pretrial diversion program, court records show.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Harris County Harris County Treasurer Carla Wyatt.
