If you\u2019ve ever belted out \u201cComo La Flor\u201d in your car like Selena herself could hear you then this one\u2019s for you. A new local short film, La Reina Que Quiero Ser (The Queen I Want To Be), is officially searching for our very own Selena Quintanilla-P\u00e9rez, and yes\u2026 open auditions are happening right here in El Paso, TX. *Cries in Spanish*<\/p>\n

All those years of practicing the \u201cwashing machine\u201d and wearing bright red lipstick can finally pay off, literally because this gig is a paid gig!<\/p>\n

Auditions go down Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 11 AM\u20132 PM at the Outlet Shoppes at El Paso (center courtyard stage.)<\/p>\n

\u201cLa Reina Que Quiero Ser\u201d Is A Film From A Local Selena Fan<\/p>\n

Set in March 1995, the film follows Miguel, a young boy navigating grief after the loss of his idol Selena, while learning to embrace who he truly is through his mother\u2019s love and the healing power of music. It\u2019s emotional. It\u2019s cultural. And it is probably going to make us ugly cry throughout the whole movie!<\/p>\n

They\u2019re casting \u201cLa Reina del Tex-Mex\u201d herself, and auditions are open to ages 18\u201330 (no younger than 16; under 18 needs a parent). If you feel right for the role then you are encouraged to show up!<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s what you need to know before the audition:Selena-inspired outfit? Mandatory.Read a scene (they\u2019ll provide it).60-second lip-sync to a Selena song of your choice.First-come, first-served\u2014early birds win.<\/p>\n
