A 62-year-old was identified as the man who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after fatally shooting his wife<\/a> and injuring their son in Grand Prairie<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Somsac Thidavanh died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound around 1:52 a.m. Monday, according to the Dallas County medical examiner\u2019s office.<\/p>\n

Police said they first arrived in the neighborhood around 10 p.m. Sunday after a man reported that his father, Thidavanh, shot him in the face after he intervened in a fight between his parents. The son fled to a neighbor\u2019s home and called 911, police said.<\/p>\n

Officers were unable to get in contact with Thidavanh once they were on scene.<\/p>\n

Police said officers, knowing a woman was still inside the home, forced open the front door.<\/p>\n

The officers were met with gunfire from a rifle and returned fire, police said. Thidavanh fled further into the home and was later found in a bathroom with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to police.<\/p>\n

The woman, identified as 44-year-old Soukdavanh Thidavanh, was found in a bedroom with multiple gunshot wounds, police said.<\/p>\n

Both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

The son, who has not been identified, was transported to a hospital for treatment and is expected to survive, police said.<\/p>\n

An officer suffered minor injuries after they were struck by ricochet gunfire, police said. The officer was taken to a hospital for treatment.
