His death prompted the passage of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox26houston.com\/news\/deputy-darren-almendarez-act-becomes-law-increasing-penalties-for-catalytic-converter-thefts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Deputy Darren Almendarez Act in 2023<\/a>, increasing penalties for catalytic converter thefts.<\/p>\n<p data-v-6c8e215c=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox26houston.com\/news\/off-duty-hcso-deputy-shot-in-grocery-store-parking-lot-in-harris-co-sheriff-says\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Joshua Stewart, Fredarius Clark,<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox26houston.com\/news\/17-year-old-suspect-in-harris-county-deputys-death-gets-bond\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Fredrick Tardy<\/a> were charged with capital murder in his death.<\/p>\n<p original-article-post=\"\" origination_station=\"KRIV\" data-v-ec26887a=\"\" data-v-6c8e215c=\"\">What&#8217;s next:<\/p>\n<p data-v-6c8e215c=\"\">All three suspects have trials scheduled for 2026.<\/p>\n<p> Stewart, who is in jail without bond, has a trial set for Jan. 9.Clark, who is also in jail without bond, has a trial scheduled for March 20.Tardy, who remains in jail with a $750,000 bond, has a trial scheduled for May 29. Robin Williams <\/p>\n<p data-v-6c8e215c=\"\">Robin Williams was<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox26houston.com\/news\/missouri-city-police-officer-houston-mayor-candidate-robin-williams-charged\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"> charged with felony continual assault of a family member<\/a> in 2023, while she was a Missouri City police officer and Houston mayoral candidate.<\/p>\n<p data-v-6c8e215c=\"\">Court documents allege that during a New Year&#8217;s Eve argument, Williams punched her boyfriend and assaulted him with her police baton. Authorities also reviewed video evidence from a previous incident in August where Williams allegedly used her baton to hit him multiple times.<\/p>\n<p data-v-6c8e215c=\"\">According to court documents, the boyfriend said that after another argument, she went to the bedroom, grabbed her taser and shot him with it.<\/p>\n<p data-v-6c8e215c=\"\">Williams is out of jail on a $15,000 bond.<\/p>\n<p original-article-post=\"\" origination_station=\"KRIV\" data-v-ec26887a=\"\" data-v-6c8e215c=\"\">What&#8217;s next:<\/p>\n<p data-v-6c8e215c=\"\">Her trial is scheduled for Jan. 20.<\/p>\n<p> Terry Bryan Rivera  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/kuwwp90f8pqwtt23.jpg\" alt=\"Terry Rivera perp walk at Harris County Jail\" class=\"sr-only\" data-v-4292be72=\"\"\/>   <\/p>\n<p data-v-6c8e215c=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox26houston.com\/news\/harris-county-suspect-identified-charged-with-capital-murder-for-12-year-olds-death\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Terry Bryan Rivera<\/a> faces a capital murder charge in Harris County for the fatal shooting of 12-year-old Carlos Fernandez, the son of Rivera&#8217;s former partner.<\/p>\n<p data-v-6c8e215c=\"\">Authorities allege that Rivera fired into the window of the family&#8217;s apartment around 3 a.m. on March 4, 2024, killing the boy as he ran to check on his younger sisters during the commotion.<\/p>\n<p data-v-6c8e215c=\"\">Rivera was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox26houston.com\/news\/terry-rivera-suspect-wanted-in-12-year-olds-shooting-death-arrives-in-harris-county\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">apprehended at the U.S.-Mexico border<\/a> and brought back to Houston.
