CIUDAD JUAREZ, MEXICO (KFOX14\/CBS4) \u2014 A family from Ciudad Ju\u00e1rez was among the close to 100 injured people after a train derailed in Southern Mexico on Sunday. <\/p>\n
According to the Mayor of Juarez, Cruz P\u00e9rez Cu\u00e9llar, Juan Iglesias, his wife, and his 20-year-old son were injured after the train they were traveling on went off the rails while taking a curve in the state of Oaxaca.<\/p>\n
RELATED: Train derailment in southern Mexico kills at least 13, injures dozens<\/a><\/p>\n The train, which was an Interoceanic train that connects the states of Oaxaca and Veracruz, the Pacific Ocean with the Gulf of Mexico, was carrying 241 passengers and nine crew members.<\/p>\n So far, 13 people are dead, and approximately 98 have been reported as injured. <\/p>\n Cuellar said that thankfully, it seems the Iglesias family was lucky, as they are reportedly out of danger, with only the 20-year-old son still under observation, as he will require surgery on one arm. <\/p>\n KINT reported that the surgery is on pause as the family doesn’t have the resources necessary and they are waiting for paperwork to bring the young man to a hospital in Juarez. <\/p>\n The mayor added that his office is trying to get the family home, and it is waiting on instructions from doctors. <\/p>\n Meanwhile, the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, has directed officials from the navy and the Ministry of the Interior to assist affected families.<\/p>\n
