Panola County Judge Rodger McLane also declared a state of emergency and Ruck County Judge Joel Hale declared a local disaster for their respective counties.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Shelby County is also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/profile.php?id=61572734500803\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/profile.php?id=61572734500803\">under a burn ban<\/a>, effective Jan. 1 for the next seven days. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">County officials in Gregg, Smith and Rusk counties are strongly urging residents to refrain from all types of outdoor burning due to the dry and windy weather conditions. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A two-and-a-half-minute video shows bulldozer teams battle wildfires on County Road 334 in Smith County.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">On Friday, <a href=\"https:\/\/tfswildfires.com\/public\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/tfswildfires.com\/public\/\">the Texas A&amp;M Forest Service\u2019s incident viewer<\/a> showed 38 fires burning across 545.9 acres throughout East and Central Texas. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe are asking residents to avoid burning and outdoor grilling, no fireworks, and no disposing of cigarettes or like-products (sic) in grass,\u201d a spokesperson wrote on the Smith County Emergency Services District 2 Facebook page.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">As of noon Friday, there were no active fires in Smith County, the spokesperson wrote.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2026 KLTV.
