SAN ANTONIO \u2013 A 41-year-old man is facing a slew of charges in connection with a chase that lasted more than an hour late Sunday, according to San Antonio police. <\/p>\n
The man was arrested sometime around 10 p.m. on Marbach Road, though an approximate address is unknown as of early Monday.<\/p>\n
The incident is believed to have begun on the Northeast Side, near Starcrest Drive, after the man fled from a traffic stop with SAPD\u2019s DWI unit.<\/p>\n
The man was traveling slowly, and SAPD\u2019s Street Crimes unit got involved near Loop 410 and Vance Jackson Road. <\/p>\n
The man \u201cdrove around a couple (of) neighborhoods\u201d during the chase, an officer at the arrest scene told KSAT 12.<\/p>\n
Officers managed to \u201cspike\u201d the man\u2019s vehicle near Marbach Road, but he continued driving for several minutes, even escaping from being pinned by several SAPD vehicles, police said.<\/p>\n
The man later stopped in a parking spot, but would not get out of his vehicle. SAPD said officers broke glass to pull the man out; however, he fought \u201cfor several minutes\u201d with officers before he was arrested. <\/p>\n
The officer at the arrest scene told KSAT the man \u201chad a history of DWI,\u201d and officers had suspected he may have been intoxicated, but did not confirm it. The officer also pointed to a history of evading and resisting arrest.<\/p>\n
The unidentified man is facing charges for aggravated assault on a police officer, evading arrest in a motor vehicle and resisting arrest charges, according to SAPD.<\/p>\n
No officers were injured aside from scrapes and broken glass, police said. EMS checked the officers, and none required hospitalization.<\/p>\n
