A driver died Saturday after crashing into a utility pole on Dallas Parkway in Plano, despite bystanders\u2019 heroic efforts to save him.<\/p>\n
Plano police and fire crews responded to the 1500 block<\/a> of southbound Dallas Parkway at 12:15 p.m. Saturday. A preliminary investigation found<\/a> that a silver Hyundai Accent traveling at a high rate of speed struck a curb before slamming into a concrete power pole.<\/p>\n The car then crashed into an unoccupied Subaru Legacy at a nearby dealership. Flames quickly engulfed the Hyundai.<\/p>\n Witnesses rushed to pull the driver from the burning wreckage before first responders arrived. Paramedics transported the man to a local hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. No other injuries were reported in the crash.<\/p>\n Police withheld the victim\u2019s identity pending notification of the family.
