This Monday AT&T officials have announced that the telecommunications company will be relocating its headquarters from Dallas \u2013 where the company has been based since 2008 \u2013 to Plano, Texas.<\/p>\n

AT&T plans to move its global headquarters from Dallas to Plano over the next three years. The company plans to build a 54-acre campus at 5400 Legacy Drive, off of the Legacy West shopping and food district and The Shops at Legacy.<\/p>\n

The decision comes after months of specular and a year of deliberation, according to company CEO and President, John Stankey. Stankey stated that the new campus would provide requisite space to \u201ccost effectively consolidate all Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex administrative space, including our three largest locations in Central Dallas, Plano, and Irving, and create a corporate campus designed for collaboration, innovation, and engagement\u201d, said Stankey.<\/p>\n

Stankey also stated that investment in \u201cour employee experience\u201d and modernization of the company\u2019s workforce drove the decision.<\/p>\n

Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson had this to say of the company\u2019s move:<\/p>\n

\u201cOur city\u2019s unique economic strengths are what attracted AT&T to our urban core in 2008, and Dallas has become a global economic powerhouse since then,\u201d said Johnson.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut as we worked to retain AT&T, it became clear that its current leaders preferred a large horizontal, suburban-style campus rather than the skyscrapers that define our city center.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dallas City Manager Kimberly Bizor Tolbert also weighed in on the company\u2019s move:<\/p>\n

\u201cUltimately, this was a decision that came down to AT&T\u2019s desire for a new horizontal location with significant acreage for development. AT&T\u2019s transition will be gradual, and the company will remain part of our city\u2019s fabric in the year\u2019s ahead\u201d.<\/p>\n
