CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas \u2014 Michael Hunter was sworn in Monday as a Port of Corpus Christi commissioner, beginning his term on one of the boards that guides policy and development for one of the nation\u2019s largest port complexes.<\/p>\n
RELATED: Port of Corpus Christi to swear in two new commissioners next week<\/a><\/p>\n Nueces County Judge Connie Scott administered the oath of office during a ceremony at the port. Hunter replaces former commissioner David Engle, who reached his term limit.<\/p>\n Hunter, a former Corpus Christi city council member, said joining the commission represents a full-circle moment for him after previously serving in leadership and volunteer roles connected to the port.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m very honored to be on the commission,\u201d Hunter said. \u201cWhen I first started getting involved with the city, it was through the port.\u201d<\/p>\n Hunter said the new Harbor Bridge will play a key role in future opportunity and growth for the Port of Corpus Christi, describing it as a factor that will help attract additional development.<\/p>\n Scott said the port and community are excited about the experience and knowledge Hunter will bring to the commission.<\/p>\n \u201cTruly this is a great day,\u201d Scott said. \u201cYou can see from the people gathered that we are all excited and wish him the best.\u201d<\/p>\n In addition to Hunter\u2019s swearing-in, port officials announced that Amanda Torres, another newly appointed commissioner, is scheduled to be sworn in Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n More from 3NEWS on KIIITV.com: \u00a0<\/p>\n
