CASA of El Paso \u2014 40th anniversary: The court approved a resolution recognizing CASA of El Paso\u2019s four decades of volunteer advocacy on behalf of children in foster care. Commissioner Butler moved the resolution; Commissioner Fonerado seconded; the court recorded ‘aye’ votes and the motion carried.<\/p>\n
Martin Luther King Jr. observance (2026): The court approved a resolution designating Monday, Jan. 19, 2026 as the county observance for Martin Luther King Jr.; the El Paso MLK Committee and local faith leaders were acknowledged; commissioners Stout and Gallinado moved and seconded the measure and the motion carried.<\/p>\n
Print\u2011center lease replacement: The court approved a replacement lease and equipment addition for the county print center (contract amount $587,828.40). County Purchasing Agent Karen Davidson explained the award replaces a prior agreement, adds two machines (including a gold\u2011foil unit), extends the original lease term by 10 months, and includes standard cancellation provisions for convenience and non\u2011appropriation. Commissioners asked staff about termination options and metrics; Davidson said staff will coordinate with the auditor to report cost avoidance and usage data.<\/p>\n
Gateways for Growth participation (consent item 4f): At the department\u2019s request the court reconsidered and then voted to delete the item; the department will return the matter to a future court meeting.<\/p>\n
Executive session: The court voted to convene an executive session under Texas Government Code sections 551.071 and 551.087 to discuss legal and contract negotiations related to pulled consent items and other matters.<\/p>\n
