If athletes were regularly popping up at grocery stores, restaurants, or Target runs, there would be photos everywhere. Yet over the entire season, I can remember seeing maybe one candid \u201cin the wild\u201d photo\u2014of linebacker Jacob Rodriguez\u2014and that was about it.<\/p>\n That feels strange for a college town that revolves around its teams.<\/p>\n Life Inside the Athletic Bubble<\/p>\n The most logical explanation is the bubble. Modern college athletics\u2014especially at a high level\u2014creates an environment where players\u2019 needs are fully met. Meals, training, rehab, academic help, transportation\u2014it\u2019s all provided. If you don\u2019t need to go to the store, why would you?<\/p>\n There\u2019s also the practical side. Less mingling means fewer distractions, fewer illnesses, and fewer headline-making mistakes. From a program standpoint, it\u2019s not just smart\u2014it\u2019s efficient.<\/p>\n What Are Recruits Being Shown?<\/p>\n It does make you wonder what a recruit hears on a visit.
