{"id":116106,"date":"2026-01-08T22:49:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-08T22:49:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/116106\/"},"modified":"2026-01-08T22:49:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T22:49:07","slug":"mark-meurer-asks-texas-supreme-court-to-block-jason-corley-from-serving-on-commisioners-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/116106\/","title":{"rendered":"Mark Meurer asks Texas Supreme Court to block Jason Corley from serving on Commisioners Court"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) &#8211; The Texas Supreme Court will decide whether to weigh in on who should represent southeast Lubbock County on the Commissioners Court.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Mark Meurer is asking the state\u2019s highest civil court to block Jason Corley from serving on the court after a district court in Lubbock supported Corley\u2019s claim to the seat.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Lubbock County Judge Curtis Parrish <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcbd.com\/2025\/12\/09\/county-judge-parrish-removes-commissioner-corley-office-corley-says-move-corrupt-power-play-files-lawsuit\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.kcbd.com\/2025\/12\/09\/county-judge-parrish-removes-commissioner-corley-office-corley-says-move-corrupt-power-play-files-lawsuit\/\">removed Corley from office<\/a> last month. Parrish said Corley automatically resigned his seat in mid-November when he announced an \u201cexploratory committee\u201d to run for Congress.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Corley said he didn\u2019t become a \u201ccandidate in fact\u201d until early December, when the state\u2019s Resign to Run law no longer required him to step down from Precinct 2.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Judge Patrick Pirtle sided with Corley late last month, allowing Corley to return to the court.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Meurer wants the Supreme Court to issue an order blocking Corley from serving during Monday\u2019s commissioners meeting. His attorneys have asked the court to decide whether it will take up the dispute by close of business Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2026 KCBD.
