AUSTIN, Texas – A 19-year-old has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with a shooting in North Austin<\/a> on New Year’s Day.<\/p>\n The shooting was Austin<\/a>‘s first homicide of 2026.<\/p>\n PREVIOUS COVERAGE: 1st homicide of 2026: Austin police investigating<\/a><\/p>\n What we know:<\/p>\n Alton Williams III was apprehended by US Marshals in Pflugerville<\/a> on Jan. 7.<\/p>\n He’s been charged with first-degree murder and is being held in the Travis County<\/a> Jail on a $200,000 bond and a misdemeanor from another county.<\/p>\n Alton Williams III (Austin Police Department)<\/p>\n The backstory:<\/p>\n Just before 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 1, Austin police officers responded to a business park in the 7800 block of N. Lamar Boulevard, across from T.A. Brown Elementary School, for a shooting.<\/p>\n The caller reported someone had been shot in the chest.<\/p>\n When officers responded, they found a man, later identified as 18-year-old Isaiah Atkinson, with trauma to his chest. He was pronounced dead on scene.<\/p>\n The investigation showed he had been at a party at the Austin Event Center in the business park.
