Leah Klenke is returning home to her hometown, but this time as a professional soccer player.<\/p>\n
Today, the Houston Dash announced that Notre Dame star defender Leah Klenke has signed a three-year contract through the 2028 season.<\/p>\n
The Houston native graduated from St. Agnes Academy and played club soccer for Albion Hurricanes FC (AHFC).<\/p>\n
\u201cI am super excited to begin my professional career in the NWSL with my hometown team at Shell Energy Stadium,\u201d Klenke said. \u201cThe Houston Dash has evolved under new leadership, and I am excited to work with and develop under coach Fabrice\u2019s guidance. I can\u2019t wait to contribute and help the team build on their strong finish last season. From my first conversations with the club, it was clear there\u2019s a vision for success, and I can\u2019t wait to be a part of it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Klenke was one of the top defenders in the NCAA. She was also one of the top collegiate players – ranked No. 50 by Top Drawer Soccer.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re excited to see her bring that talent and drive to our roster as we look towards the 2026 season and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n
At Notre Dame she played as a defender and midfielder, earning 78 appearances and contributing 22 goals (five goals and 17 assists).<\/p>\n
Internationally, she has played with the USYNT from U-14 through U-20. At the 2024 U-20 FIFA Women\u2019s World Cup, she won the bronze medal.<\/p>\n
How fast is she? Klenke won two state championships in soccer and track for St. Agnes Academy. She was also named the Houston Chronicle Private School Runner of the Year in 2021.<\/p>\n
