1.\u00a0U.S. Rep. Chip Roy says he has the right mix of legal experience and conservative credentials to lead AG\u2019s office<\/a><\/p>\n

U.S. Rep. Chip Roy, R-Austin, believes he can flat-out win a crowded GOP primary for Texas attorney general without going into a runoff.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The four-term congressman is leading a four-way primary race to become the state\u2019s next attorney general now that incumbent Ken Paxton is running for U.S. Senate. Roy is running against state Sens. Joan Huffman and Mayes Middleton, and former Justice Department lawyer Aaron Reitz.\u00a0<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0Texas cities on the list of those with highest property tax burdens<\/a><\/p>\n

According to a report from\u00a0SmartAsset.com, Texas in 2025 made up 20% of the top 20 cities with the highest property tax burden in the country.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0Austin ISD closures up in the air for two elementary schools, decision this month<\/a><\/p>\n

Officials with Austin Independent School District (AISD) are set to decide the fate of two set-to-close elementary schools by the end of the month.<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0Additional 500 miles of border barriers to be installed on Rio Grande, Noem says<\/a><\/p>\n

Border security efforts continue to ramp up in Texas after Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced an additional 500 miles of floating water barriers will be installed on the Rio Grande.<\/p>\n

5.\u00a0Texas moves from ‘high’ to ‘very high’ in flu cases<\/a><\/p>\n

According to a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Texas has moved from the “high\u201d category to \u201cvery high\u201d in their weekly influenza surveillance report, which monitors outpatient respiratory illness that includes a fever plus a cough and a sore throat.<\/p>\n

Another round of protests were planned for Friday in Minneapolis over the\u00a0killing of a local woman\u00a0by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer during the Trump administration’s latest immigration crackdown on a major city, a day after federal immigration officers\u00a0shot and wounded two people\u00a0in Portland, Oregon.<\/p>\n
