Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham is calling on residents to send Valentine\u2019s Day cards to veterans in state facilities.<\/p>\n
The annual campaign aims to deliver messages of appreciation to residents at Texas\u2019s 10 State Veterans Homes. The initiative offers Texans a simple way to honor military service members during the February holiday.<\/p>\n
Last year\u2019s campaign delivered nearly 38,000 cards to veterans across the state.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are the land of the free because of the brave. This Valentine\u2019s Day, I encourage Texans to show appreciation for our Veterans by sending cards to our 10 Texas State Veterans Homes,\u201d Buckingham said<\/a> in a press release.<\/p>\n \u201cAnyone can send a card through the VLB\u2019s Valentines for Vets campaign, including schoolchildren, co-workers, families, and friends. Each Valentine sent will remind our heroes that their courageous sacrifices will never be forgotten.\u201d<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n The Veterans Land Board provides downloadable card designs for participants. Cards must be postmarked by February 10, 2026, to ensure timely delivery.<\/p>\n Participants should include \u201cValentines for Vets\u201d in the mailing address when sending cards. The facilities span from Amarillo to McAllen, including locations in Houston, Fort Worth, and El Paso.<\/p>\n The state\u2019s newest facility, Tuskegee Airmen Texas State Veterans Home in Fort Worth, opened<\/a> its doors last fall. The home joins nine other facilities providing specialized care for Texas veterans.<\/p>\n
