{"id":118622,"date":"2026-01-11T01:45:06","date_gmt":"2026-01-11T01:45:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/118622\/"},"modified":"2026-01-11T01:45:06","modified_gmt":"2026-01-11T01:45:06","slug":"candidate-deadlines-approaching-for-city-school-board-elections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/118622\/","title":{"rendered":"Candidate deadlines approaching for city, school board elections"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) &#8211; Candidates for the upcoming City of Lubbock can file to run from Jan. 14 to Feb. 13.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Several candidates have already declared their intention to run for office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">On your ballot, you can expect to see candidates for Districts 1, 3, and 5 on the Lubbock City Council, along with the mayor\u2019s race.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">District 3 Councilman David Glasheen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcbd.com\/2025\/12\/11\/district-3-city-councilman-david-glasheen-will-not-seek-reelection-endorses-david-bruegel\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.kcbd.com\/2025\/12\/11\/district-3-city-councilman-david-glasheen-will-not-seek-reelection-endorses-david-bruegel\/\">says he is stepping down<\/a> and has endorsed current Republican Party Chair David Bruegel. Ken Adams will be the new party chair.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcbd.com\/2025\/12\/01\/adam-hernandez-running-lubbock-city-council-district-3\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.kcbd.com\/2025\/12\/01\/adam-hernandez-running-lubbock-city-council-district-3\/\" target=\"_blank\">Adam Hernandez<\/a> is also running for District 3. The civic activist is a member of the Lubbock Compact and has previously run for mayor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">District 5 Councilwoman Dr. Jennifer Wilson has declared she\u2019s seeking another term.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">District 1 Councilwoman Christy Martinez-Garcia has not said what her intentions are this election cycle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Election Day is May 2.
