{"id":119668,"date":"2026-01-12T06:20:12","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T06:20:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/119668\/"},"modified":"2026-01-12T06:20:12","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T06:20:12","slug":"lubbock-county-to-consider-ending-lease-for-medical-examiner-facility","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/119668\/","title":{"rendered":"Lubbock County to consider ending lease for medical examiner facility"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">LUBBOCK, Texas &#8211; Lubbock County is scheduled to take more steps into a new era of the medical examiner\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Commissioners are expected to consider terminating a lease agreement with the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center for the medical examiner building it has used for many years on the South Loop.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">According to the agenda, Lubbock County will leave that facility next month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">County information shows its most recent lease extension cost the county $250,000 last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe want to provide peace for the families of the deceased and that\u2019s what this is going to help us do,\u201d said Charles Addington, Lubbock County medical examiner. \u201cWe are still gonna have some people who die everyday, but if it is handled better and more professionally than it is right now than that\u2019s even better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The commissioners court meets at 10 a.m. Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2026 KCBD.
