{"id":119867,"date":"2026-01-12T12:37:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T12:37:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/119867\/"},"modified":"2026-01-12T12:37:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T12:37:07","slug":"texas-senate-race-heats-up-as-candidates-campaign-across-the-state-ahead-of-democratic-primary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/119867\/","title":{"rendered":"Texas Senate race heats up as candidates campaign across the state ahead of Democratic primary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">SAN ANTONIO \u2013 With early voting starting on Feb. 17, Democratic Texas Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett is traveling across the Lone Star State to reach voters directly.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">On Sunday, that meant meeting them at churches and the restaurant Tony G\u2019s on San Antonio\u2019s East side.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cI\u2019ve got to make sure that everyone in the state of Texas knows that I am going to work for this so I can work for them,\u201d Crockett said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">She currently represents the 30th Congressional District of Texas, which includes portions of Dallas and Tarrant Counties.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">During her first senate campaign stop in the Alamo City, Crockett addressed congregations and patrons touting her legal credentials, her work in the Texas Legislature, and her current work on Capitol Hill. In Washington, Crockett serves on the subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement, which is under the United States House Committee on the Judiciary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cAs a licensed attorney who practices civil rights law, I have always stood for the people that have been constantly told they don\u2019t have (a) voice that count(s),\u201d she said,<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Also pushing his public service record is Texas State Representative James Talarico, who spoke with KSAT this past week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cI passed the biggest early childhood bill in recent memory, and I passed a major housing bill that\u2019s going to make the dream of home ownership a reality for more Texans,\u201d Talarico said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Talarico and Crockett, along with Ahmad R. Hassan, are on the ballot for the March 3 Democratic primary election.
