Some of the best, and least busy, brunch options in town aren’t at cafés at all. They’re at bars. While everyone else lines up at popular chains, you could be enjoying relaxed brunches, open seating, and full menus without the chaos (and with blissfully lower lighting).

Read More: Where To Find The Best Karaoke Nights In Lubbock

Why Bars Are the Best Brunch Spots in Lubbock

Patience is a virtue that I do not possess when it comes to being hungry. I am very much a HANGRY person, and I hate to wait to eat. Diva, if you are like me, there’s no way you are sitting patiently for an hour to get your weekend brunch. Luckily, there are a few Lubbock bars that offer delicious, high-quality, and affordable brunches with little to no wait to be seated.

Example: Savage Tiki Taven

This Sunday, I chose to try the brunch offerings at Savage Tiki Tavern (1625 University Ave), and I was very impressed. Not only was I greeted immediately by the friendly staff, but I was also greeted by a very good food smell, a hugely promising sign. The coffee and my cranberry mimosa were excellent and served quickly, and they have good water with the “good ice”, which sounds silly but can honestly paint my entire dining experience.

Read More: Sticky Chikky Expanding To Lubbock: What To Expect

My honey got the Cowboy Benedict (and peppered it thoroughly before I got the picture). It’s basically a Cuban sandwich and a Benedict had a baby, and it is delicious. The amount of meat on it is very generous for the price (it was under $15).

I got the Mama’s Migas, which were phenomenal and nailed the correct textures- fluffy eggs paired with crisp fried chips and veggies with a slight crunch. With the queso blanco and house-made salsa, it was pure perfection. It was also under $15.

Next time you want a delicious brunch without the huge wait to be seated, try a cozy Lubbock bar/ tavern. I think you’ll be impressed not only with the quality, but also with the ticket price. And yes, this early in the day its generally okay to bring your kids. I saw a couple kiddos really enjoying their waffles while I was there.

Lubbock’s Best Appetizers: Must-Try Starters at Local Restaurants

Discover some of the best appetizers in Lubbock, from shareable starters and classic favorites to unique dishes locals love to order.
