\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThere are several upcoming and ongoing road projects<\/a> in Georgetown, including plans to build medians on Williams Drive, and to construct two pedestrian and bicycle bridges<\/a> crossing the San Gabriel River.<\/p>\n

Upcoming projects<\/p>\n

Williams Drive<\/p>\n

Project: Construct medians with turn lanes on Williams Drive from I-35 to Serenada Drive, including a shared-use path on the north side of Williams Drive, a new waterline, and street lighting from DB Wood Road to Jim Hogg Road to and Serenada Drive to I-35<\/p>\n

Update: In the design phase, with the first phase of the project\u2014street lighting from DB Wood to Jim Hogg\u2014anticipated to begin in the spring<\/p>\n

Timeline: 2023-27Cost: $18.6 millionFunding sources: city of Georgetown, traffic impact fees, federal grants, tax increment financingSE Inner Loop<\/p>\n

Project:<\/p>\n

Widen 2.91 miles of SE Inner Loop to a four-lane, divided road from Hwy. 29 to FM 1460, and add a shared-use path for pedestrians and bicycles on one side<\/p>\n

Update: In the design phase, with real estate acquisition and utility relocation ongoing<\/p>\n

Timeline: 2022-28Cost: $70.6 millionFunding sources: city of Georgetown, Georgetown Transportation Enhancement CorporationHwy. 29 West<\/p>\n

Project: Construct additional travel lanes, lengthen turn lanes and improve traffic signals on Hwy. 29 from Wolf Ranch Parkway to I-35 as well as add shared-use paths<\/p>\n

Update: Construction is expected to begin in the spring<\/p>\n

Timeline: 2023-27Cost: $10.1 millionFunding source: Georgetown Transportation Enhancement CorporationAustin Avenue pedestrian bridges<\/p>\n

Project: <\/p>\n

Construct two pedestrian and bicycle bridges crossing the San Gabriel River, adjacent to the existing Austin Avenue bridges<\/p>\n

Update: A redesign for the project<\/a> was approved at a Dec. 9 council work session due to cost increases associated with the original design<\/p>\n

Timeline: 2023-TBDCost: $21 millionFunding sources: city of Georgetown, developer feesShell Road<\/p>\n

Project: Widen Shell Road from Williams Drive to Sycamore Street to four lanes with a raised median, shared-use path, and left- and right-turn lanes<\/p>\n

Update: Utility relocations are ongoing and construction is expected to begin in mid-2026<\/p>\n

Timeline: 2022-27Cost: $21.17 millionFunding source: city of GeorgetownOngoing projects<\/p>\n

Southwestern Boulevard<\/p>\n

Project: Reconstruct and expand Southwestern Boulevard to two lanes with a center turn lane and other improvements from University Park to SE Inner loop<\/p>\n

Update: Substantial completion expected by the end of February<\/p>\n

Timeline: 2020-26Cost: $6.58 millionFunding source: city of Georgetown, Williamson CountyRockride Lane<\/p>\n

Project: Upgrade Rockride Lane to a two-lane collector roadway with a continuous center left-turn lane and a 10-foot-wide shared-use path along one side from SE Inner Loop to Sam Houston Avenue<\/p>\n

Update: The first phase of the project, from SE Inner Loop to Mitchell Elementary and Wagner Middle schools, was substantially completed last fall. Construction continues with estimated completion by September<\/p>\n

Timeline: 2022-26Cost: $12 millionFunding source: city of GeorgetownDB Wood Road Phase 1<\/p>\n

Project: <\/p>\n

Add four 12-foot wide lanes, a center turn lane and a shared-use path from Hwy. 29 to Oak Ridge Road<\/p>\n

Update: All four lanes are set to be open to traffic by March 31, with project completion in July<\/p>\n

Timeline: 2023-26Cost: $29.6 millionFunding source: city of Georgetown<\/p>\n
