{"id":120714,"date":"2026-01-13T01:42:02","date_gmt":"2026-01-13T01:42:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/120714\/"},"modified":"2026-01-13T01:42:02","modified_gmt":"2026-01-13T01:42:02","slug":"lubbock-county-medical-examiner-moving-to-new-facility-by-mid-february","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/120714\/","title":{"rendered":"Lubbock County medical examiner moving to new facility by mid-February"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">LUBBOCK, Texas &#8211; Lubbock County Judge Curtis Parrish says everything is going \u201cextremely well\u201d as the medical examiner\u2019s office prepares to move into its new facility, one he calls \u201cworld class.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Monday, commissioners approved a new agreement to provide autopsy services to UMC inside a building near the county detention center in north Lubbock.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The county was previously operating its medical examiner services in rented space at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Commissioners approved ending that lease next month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Parrish says the new facility will benefit the citizens of Lubbock County and West Texas for decades to come.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe\u2019ve got a contract with UMC to provide forensic pathology services, autopsy services as well,\u201d Parrish said. \u201cSo, we will be doing this. We will be a regional medical examining facility reaching out to folks from really all over West Texas and maybe even eastern New Mexico.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Parrish says the county anticipates medical examiner services will be moved into the new facility by mid-February.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2026 KCBD.
