{"id":120757,"date":"2026-01-13T02:25:12","date_gmt":"2026-01-13T02:25:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/120757\/"},"modified":"2026-01-13T02:25:12","modified_gmt":"2026-01-13T02:25:12","slug":"suspect-fatally-shot-man-who-borrowed-his-car-and-wrecked-it-austin-police-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/120757\/","title":{"rendered":"Suspect fatally shot man who borrowed his car and wrecked it, Austin police say"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/kwtx.com\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/kwtx.com\">AUSTIN, Texas (KWTX) \u2014<\/a> Austin police say a 19-year-old man was shot to death at a downtown hotel after he wrecked a borrowed car. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Officers and Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services responded about 6:55 a.m. Jan. 5 to a report of a gunshot at the Cambria Hotel at 68 East Avenue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The first responders found Luke Bradburn suffering from significant injuries, police said. Bradburn was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:33 a.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Homicide detectives and crime-scene specialists investigated and interviewed witnesses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The probe found that Bradburn had earlier driven a vehicle belonging to another man, which was later crashed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">After the crash, Bradburn and other occupants fled the scene of the wreck and returned to the hotel, where police said the vehicle\u2019s owner, identified as 20-year-old Maximillian Salinas, fatally shot Bradburn.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"Maximilian Salinas\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/3W7GCBVPPBDCNH3WLPL6L6C5JM.jpg\" width=\"980\" height=\"980\" \/>Maximilian Salinas(KWTX GRAPHIC)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Salinas was arrested Jan. 6 and charged with murder, Austin police said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Anyone with information is asked to contact the Austin Police Department at 512-974-TIPS. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Tips may also be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers program at austincrimestoppers.org or by calling 512-472-8477, police said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The department is treating the case as Austin\u2019s third homicide of 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2026 KWTX.
