said<\/a> Jerry Minton, public information officer for the Plano Police, NBC5DFW reported.<\/p>\nThe father was taken to a hospital by Plano Fire-Rescue and is expected to recover. The teen remained inside the residence when authorities arrived and was detained without resistance.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlmost immediately after the officers arrived, he was detained and taken into custody,\u201d Minton said.<\/p>\n
The boy was transferred to the Collin County Juvenile Detention Center on Monday afternoon, where he is set to appear before a judge. He has been charged with aggravated assault-family violence with a deadly weapon, causing serious bodily injury.<\/p>\n
Police recovered the firearm, but have not determined its ownership or how the minor obtained it. Minton described the event as stemming from domestic tensions, with the motive unclear.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a family issue,\u201d Minton said. \u201cDon\u2019t know the motive behind it. Just that this is a father and son issue where the son shot the father.\u201d<\/p>\n
Neighbors expressed surprise at the violence in the quiet area, noting they had seen no prior signs of trouble.<\/p>\n
\u201cI just saw a bunch of police vehicles outside, in the street,\u201d said Karthik Mahadevan, who lives nearby. \u201cWe go for walks and might see them on the street sometimes and say hi, but we don\u2019t know them that well,\u201d Mahadevan said, per NBC 5. \u201cIt\u2019s a little shocking and a little sad, really.\u201d<\/p>\n
