Harris County voters are raising concerns about County Treasurer Carla Wyatt, who was charged with burglary of a vehicle in December. This comes after Wyatt faced a DWI charge last year.<\/p>\n
Wyatt did have the DWI charge dismissed thanks to a pretrial diversion program, but some are still concerned with what appears to be a pattern of legal trouble.<\/p>\n
Gary Polland with Texas Conservative Review explained why voters might lose confidence in Wyatt, saying: \u201cThis is the second run-in with the law since she entered office, and as voters, we expect our officeholders not to be charged with violating the law.\u201d<\/p>\n
Polland added that while there are a few options for Harris County Commissioners to respond to concerns surrounding Wyatt, we shouldn\u2019t expect much action from them. He expects the Democrat-led court to \u201cjust let it all ride out.\u201d<\/p>\n
The good news is, voters who want to see some change will have the chance to get it this November, when Wyatt is up for reelection. According to Polland, she is likely to lose. \u201cShe\u2019s gonna be challenged this year,\u201d he said. \u201cThere\u2019s a strong Republican candidate, and I don\u2019t know if she has a primary opponent or not.
